Caroline Carey Oesch has two decades of experience treating adults, children, and couples. Caroline takes an eclectic approach to old-school psychodynamic methods. She holds a Master’s in teaching and a Master’s in counseling. She is also graduating soon with a PhD in educational psychology.
Caroline will help you recognize, embrace, accept, and overcome these five truths of mental health and life.
Step 1
You are not a passive observer of reality; you
are a narrator. Your brain invents stories that
feel true-but are often built on cognitive
biases, emotional residue, and past wounds.
Knowing this lets you question your
reactions instead of obeying them.
01
Step 2
Avoidance feels like relief in the short term.
But every time you dodge discomfort, you
strengthen fear, shame, procrastination, or
resentment.
Healing, growth, success-all require
learning to lean into discomfort on purpose.
02
Step 3
Identity isn't fixed. It's a feedback loop of
habits, roles, beliefs, and repeated stories.
You shape who you are by what you do over
and over, not what you wish were true.
If you want to change your life, start with
what you repeat.
03
Step 4
Feeling your emotions is not enough. Mental
health comes from being able to name, hold,
and use your emotions-not be hijacked by
them.
The unregulated feel stuck. The
regulated move forward, even when it's
hard.
04
Step 5
There is no life without pain. But there is a
difference between meaningless pain and
meaningful sacrifice. Purpose doesn't remove
suffering. It gives it a reason.
Avoiding suffering is a dead end.
Choosing it wisely is the path to power.

Life is hard and even downright frustrating at times. Everybody faces challenges in life but you don’t have to go through them alone. It is OK to get some help while going through life. The first step to overcoming, breaking through, recovering and succeeding starts with the first phone call to come see me. Know your worth! Be brave enough to break the stigma we face surrounding counseling and therapy. I work hard to create a very safe space – no judging, no shaming – where you can be free to share what it is you might be struggling to conquer. Together we can get through it!
